There’s a saying I really like: “Hold a vision, trust the process.”I apply that broadly in my own life. And it’s a philosophy that also applies to creating content for your coworking space. In my experience, real success is almost always the product of a process. And I’m sure you’ve probably had similar experiences.Even owning and operating your space, I’m sure you rely heavily on all kinds of processes to keep things running smoothly. So, if you’re creating your own content, I thought I’d share a top-level look at the process that’s proven successful for me in case it helps guide how you handle your blog content creation…
- Strategization: Think about who you’re writing for. Consider what they find interesting, valuable, or entertaining. And at the same time, consider the outcomes you want to achieve in creating content. What do you want them to feel? What action do you want them to take?
- Ideation: Think about how often to write content. Give some thought to content categories that appeal to your audience and brain-dump ultra-specific topic ideas within each of them.
- Creation: Craft your content to be hyper-specific, answer specific questions, and to be digestible and engaging. Avoid jargon. Keep it simple and concise. Focus on providing value to your audience above all else.
- Publication: This one’s pretty self-explanatory. Once your content is finished and you’ve got it in great shape, publish it via its respective platform.
- Distribution: Don’t ever just stop at publishing your content. That’s a waste. Make sure to promote it properly. Share it by email and on social media. If you’ve mentioned people or businesses, tag them. Or, better yet, reach out directly and ask them to share it. This cross-pollination of networks is how you really grow your content’s visibility exponentially.
- Evaluation: This is a critical step. Evaluate and measure the success of your content. Use those insights to determine whether you hit the mark or missed it. Remember, you won’t necessarily get it right every time and that’s OK. What matters most is that you learn from what worked and what didn’t so you can make your content even better next time.
In my opinion, it’s important to create a content ecosystem that comprises everything from blog content to email marketing, social media, video, podcasts, and more. But your blog content is a great place to start: it helps inform a number of the other facets of the ecosystem. So, once you’ve got your system implemented, try applying it to other content tools, too.If you want to learn even more about how to create a great coworking blog, sign up for my free 7-day Blog Writing Basics for Coworking Spaces email course.
