Don't fall into the trap of passive communication

I’ll admit it: these days, I communicate mostly via text message, WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, and Slack.Life’s busy, so I like quick, concise communication. But that’s also made me notice a trend:Communication is becoming more passive and less personal these days. You can actually just react to messages with a thumbs-up, a “haha,” or an emoji rather than even having to respond to them. And even though I do it all the time, all I’m saying is this...There are certain scenarios where passive, impersonal communication won’t fly, and that includes communicating with your target audience.Don’t cut corners when it comes to staying in touch with your existing and prospective members.Invest the time and energy into building and nurturing organic personal bonds with them over time. Be dedicated to quality, consistency, and frequency.Because in a world where communication shortcuts are becoming more prevalent, being engaging and personal will do two things:

  1. It'll help boost retention by making your members feel valued and connected
  2. It'll help bring in new members by keeping you top-of-mind with your leads when the time finally comes to pick a coworking space
